Fresh from Broward jail, man on probation for attempted murder accused of recording showering teen

A Lauderhill man on probation for attempted murder was put back behind bars after officials with the city’s police department said he videoed a 14-year-old girl while she showered on Wednesday, five days after he got out of jail.

Demetrius Gunn, 32, was taken into custody on Thursday.

According to an arrest warrant, the girl told Lauderhill police that she was showering around 4:30 Wednesday morning when she noticed a man, later identified as Gunn, holding a cellphone through her bathroom window.

Police said he fled after she screamed.

Authorities said surveillance video captured him near the window and running away after the girl screamed.

Gunn had been released from the Broward County jail on Sept. 12 and his GPS ankle monitor also placed him at the scene, police said.

Court records show his attempted murder conviction stems from a July 5, 2022 case in Fort Lauderdale.

Fort Lauderdale police said Gunn followed the mother of his children around the city and fired a gun at her in the 1700 block of Northwest 14th Avenue, “striking her vehicle and narrowly missing her head.”

An arrest report states that before Gunn opened fire, he said, among other things, “Hoe imma getchu, you gunna get it. Imma getchu if it’s the last thing I do, hoe.”

As of Friday, Gunn was being held in the Broward Main Jail on charge of digital voyeurism of a child under 16 and a probation violation.
